It is a good effect to start with the modal A and then move to the major half way through. The jump to the B major in the second part is difficult and will require practise. The jump to the A major no.2 chord isn’t quite so difficult because the hand shape stays the same. The B major chord is quite unusual in Irish traditional music and it’s use here is even more unusual. As seen in the Reading Music section the second chord in a major scale is a minor chord. It is only on very rare occasions that a major version of the second chord might be found.
 



This would seem to be a modern day tune; it would seem that the composer based the tune as much on a harmonic structure as on a purely melodic idea. That wouldn’t have been the case before when people wouldn’t have been as aware of harmonic processes.
